Juneteenth Community Cook-out
Audible commemorated Juneteenth by hosting a community cook-out, featuring delicious meals from local restaurants via Newark Working Kitchens Delivers (NWKD). Over 1,300 people came to enjoy the celebration, where hundreds of free meals were served from Black-owned restaurants including The Yard, The Weekend Spot and Uncle Willie’s Wings. Attendees enjoyed a DJ, picnic-style dining benches, games, performances, and community art activations, including screen-printing of Harriet Tubman images with the Newark Museum of Art as well as mask-making.
